News & Notes:

FOX will air a special two-hour season finale (possibly series finale) of Arrested Development on Friday, February 10th. I'm so glad they are airing the remaining episodes and I can't wait to see them. I really hope some other station picks up this show somehow.

FOX is moving Malcolm in the Middle from Fridays (where it hasn't been doing very well) to Sunday nights at 6pm (before King of the Hill). Reruns of The Bernie Mac Show will air after new episodes of Bernie Mac on Fridays (new at 7pm, reruns at 7:30pm).

I wasn't going to watch 24 this season or at least not much of it (just enough so I felt qualified to review it a bit for y'all), but after seeing most of last night's season premiere I may be hooked. Two more new hours of 24 (FOX, 7pm - 9pm) air tonight. Be warned that last night's two-hour premiere started about 10-15 minutes late and as a result ended late, thanks to football coverage, so if you recorded it and haven't watched it yet-- you might want to know that. Anyway. Jack Bauer faked his own death at the end of last season and at the beginning of this season he's in hiding. But then some people are killed (I won't say who, as I don't want to spoil anything for anyone who still hasn't watched last night's episode) and he is framed for their murders. Eek! So now people know he's alive and he's trying to clear his name and find out who is really behind the killings. And, given this is 24, I'm sure things will get more complicated from there. Sean Astin begins a stint on the show tonight; I was impressed by Jean Smart's work last night. So far this season there are some interesting new cast additions and some cool familiar faces from previous seasons.

Stars of movies and TV mingle at the 63rd Annual Golden Globe Awards (NBC, 7pm 'til 10pm or possibly later). NBC has some interactive bits on their website, if you watch the show live and want to play along. The Globes are an odd, but fun award show. I appreciate that some of the film categories are split into "drama" and "comedy or musical." I also like that sometimes deserving TV shows and stars do actually win awards on this show. It is usually one of the more entertaining award shows.

New episode of Wildfire (ABC Family, 7pm and 11pm). Dennis Weaver and Nana Visitor are among the stars of this series.

College hoops on ESPN; NBA basketball on TNT.

ESPN Classic rebroadcasts this year's Sugar Bowl game (ESPN Classic, 7pm).

Camryn Manheim (of The Practice) guest stars on a rerun of How I Met Your Mother (CBS, 7:30pm). Ted visits a matchmaker.

Lily: Don't Ted-out about it.
Ted: Did you just use my name as a verb?
Barney: Oh, yeah, we do that when you're not around. "Ted-out": to overthink. See also "Ted-up". "Ted-up": to overthink with disastrous consequences. For example, "Billy Tedded-up when he-"
Ted: All right, I get it!

Stephanie Zimbalist, Dean Cain, and Thea Gill star in a new Lifetime original movie called Truth (Lifetime, 8pm - 10pm). A reporter is killed while working on a story; her former journalism professor and one of her best friends from college retrace her steps in an attempt to find out what happened to her.

Charlie finds out that Alan has been secretly dating his ex-wife on a rerun of Two and a Half Men (CBS, 8pm). If you saw Marin Hinkle's excellent performance on a recent episode of In Justice, you've seen evidence that her talent is mostly wasted on this show (she was so good on Once and Again, too).

Neither Emily's Reasons Why Not or Jake In Progress air tonight, instead ABC is airing a rerun of The Bachelor: Paris (ABC, 8pm) before a new episode of that show (ABC, 9pm). Emily and Jake return next Monday (unless things change between now and then; I'd definitely say both shows are in danger of being canceled or put on hiatus).

"Rainy Day" and "Comfort Foods" Unwrapped (Food Network, 8pm and midnight; 8:30pm and 12:30am).

New episode of Rollergirls (A&E, 9pm and 1am). A veteran skater wants to join the league.

Horatio is a suspect in the murder of a woman he was seeing on a rerun of C.S.I. Miami (CBS, 9pm).

Late Night:

Eugene Jarecki on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (Comedy Central, 10pm and midnight).

George Stephanopoulos on The Colbert Report (Comedy Central, 10:30pm and 12:30am).

Martin Lawrence, Kari Byron, Matisyahu on The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm).

Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul, Wendy Liebman, Barry Manilow on The Tonight Show (NBC, 10:35pm).

Allison Janney (of The West Wing), John C. McGinley (of Scrubs, the 88 on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson (CBS, check your local listings).

Elijah Wood, Michael Rappaport, Brian Regan on a rerun of Late Night with Conan O'Brien (NBC, 11:37pm).

John Mayer Trio, Steve-O on Jimmy Kimmel Live (ABC, check your local listings).

Eve, Ariel Gade, the Bravery, Joe Firstman on Last Call with Carson Daly (NBC, check your local listings).
